With librettist Nancy Rhodes, John David Earnest is currently composing an opera, The Unified Theory of Everything, commissioned by the Encompass New Opera Theatre.
On July 6, 9, 11, 16, and 27, 2006, the Desert Chorale of Santa Fe, New Mexico under the direction of Linda Mack premiered The First Day for chorus, harp, and clarinet (on a text of Robert Bode), which they had commissioned.
In December 2005, the Whitman College Chorale of Walla Walla, Washington under the direction of Robert Bode premiered Three Snow Songs for chorus and piano 4-hands (on texts of Robert Bode), which they had commissioned.
